Lets start off with the bad news - My last Chemistry test sucked.  Good solid "C" on that one.  Luckily my professor is offering a make up exam - basically he's giving an extra exam, and dropping the lowest of all of our exams.   Hopefully I'll be able to learn enough before Thanksgiving break to do well.

Now for the much more fun good news.  Two weeks ago I went home for the weekend for the first time!  Yay!  I got to see the family and have all sorts of fun.  It was a long drive, but worth it.  Unfortunately I don't think a weekend is really long enough for a visit - it seemed much too short, so I'm excited for Thanksgiving break when I'll have the whole week at home .  Then this past weekend I visited JMU again.  Friday Mari and I went to a corn maze which was awesome, but very confusing.  We were on a map of the US, but somehow got lost in Canada for a while (bad Northern Tier flashbacks ).  Then for Halloween we went out to see Couples Retreat in theaters.  It was a pretty funny movie, but lacked the timeless value of movies like Princess Bride, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, or Kung-Pow.  Still - Its worth a watch if you get the chance.

Back in classes I'm working on a couple of projects.  First off I'm on a 3 man team writing HangMan in Java for my CS class.  I'm also working on creating a geothermal desalinization model for my Engineering class.

I've also recently put in my course request for next semester.  Here at Tech, we first request courses, then departments look at the numbers and decide what sections to offer, then we're assigned courses that match our requests as closely as possible, then its opened up for us to adjust our schedules.  Well I managed to fit all the classes I wanted to take into the semester: CS Problem Solving, Intro to Computer Organizaion, another general Engineering class (for CS and Electrical and Computer Engineering bound students), Physics and Lab, the Chem Lab I couldn't take this semester, and Combinatorics (Math).  That's 16 credit-hours.  Only 1 more than I'm taking right now, but it seems like it'll be a lot more work.  The schedule itself doesn't look too great either.  Assuming I get all the sections I requested - I'll be getting up for 9:00am classes all 5 days of the week, and will have several short spaces between classes.  On the up side though I will still be done with class early on Fridays.  Its not a pretty schedule, but it could be much worse.

I voted by absentee ballot for the first time a few days ago, and although I don't really like discussing politics I will say this:  I want more moderate candidates.  And I want less political BS.  My 2 cents.
